Youth Fiddle Contest

Please note: This information is for 2008. Entry fees, prizes, rules, etc. for the 2009 festival have not yet been set.

The Youth Fiddle Contest is open to all fiddlers up to the age of 15. The contest has three categories:

Division	Age

Pee Wee	Up to 6
Junior-Junior	7 - 10
Junior	11 - 15
Open	All ages up to 15

Registration fee is $7.00 for 1 division and $14.00 for 2. Contestants may enter either the Pee Wee, Junior-Junior, or Junior, and in addition, the Open.
Each contestant may be accompanied by two guests (parents, siblings, friends, etc.) to the contest. All others must purchase a single day festival ticket.
On-site registration is from 8AM to 9AM Saturday, June 28th.
The Pee Wee Contest starts at 9AM Saturday, June 28, 2008, followed immediately by the Junior-Junior, Junior, and Open Contests.
Winners will be showcased on the main stage on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 4:00PM
Prizes will be awarded as follows:

RULES:

Previous year 1st place winners may not re-enter their same age group, but may enter the Open Division.
Each fiddler plays 3 tunes - a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice (other than a hoedown or waltz).
No trick or fancy fiddling allowed.
In the event of a tie, a replay will be necessary.
No contestant shall play a tune more than once during the contest.

JUDGED ON:

Rhythm and Timing. ( 30 Points )
How well they know the tune. ( 30 Points )
How difficult the tune is to play. ( 10 Points )
Clarity and Intonation. ( 30 Points )
Decisions of the Judges will be final.

Pre-Registration

We encourage contestants to pre-register by mail or online by using one of the following forms. Registration fee for Youth Fiddle Contest is $7.00 per division entered and may be paid on-line, by mail, or at the festival. Registration is not complete until payment is received.
