Volunteers
Welcome Volunteers! This page presents an overview of all the help we
need to stage our festival. Please visit our
Volunteer Listings page for detailed listings of specific opportunities.
Thank you.
Overview
Our festival depends on the help of volunteers. We need volunteers the
entire year before the festival as well as during the week of the festival.
Everyone can help! It doesn't matter where you live or how much time you
can spare. We have an opportunity that you will find interesting,
enjoyable, and satisfying. You can work with
others, at home on your computer, or as you travel to festivals and fairs.
If you can spare an hour or two on occasion, we would welcome your help.
You might have just the skills or connections to make an important task easily
accomplished!
We need volunteers now in the areas of:
- Publicity
- Vendor Recruitment
- Office Work
- Fund Raising
- Artwork and Design
- Consulting
- Festival Week set up and tear down
Publicity:
Publicity is an area where everyone can participate. Publicize the
festival whenever, wherever, an opportunity arises.
- Post flyers and posters in your town, at work, community bulletin
boards and kiosks, and especially other music festivals.
- Collect information (fliers, email and website addresses, business cards,
etc.) about
music events, festivals, community and events calendars, travel magazines and
websites, etc. where we can post our logo and describe our festival.
- Put a link to our website on your myspace page, blog, or
website
- Distribute material from our press kit (fliers, logo, news clips) whenever
and wherever possible.
- Arrange to have the local media (TV news and morning talk shows, radio, and
newspapers) publicize, promote, and cover the event.
Vendor Recruitment
Vendors and concessions for food and merchandise add a lot to the festive
atmosphere of the festival. We would like to make a major push to recruit
more vendors for the festival in 2008.
- Promote our festival to Green Country artisans and craftsmen and
invite them to exhibit at our festival.
- Collect information (fliers, email and website addresses, business cards,
phone numbers, etc.) from Green Country artisans and craftsmen so we can
follow up and make contact with them as well.
Office Work
- Handle and route email requests for information.
- General secretarial and office skills, develop spreadsheets, maintain database,
etc.
- Handle online ticket sales, vendor fees, contest fees.
- Write the newsletter.
Fundraising
Ticket sales do not begin to cover the cost of the festival. We depend
on sponsors for a major portion of the cost of the festival.
- Recruit sponsors (local business,
foundations, service orgs, friends, etc. ) for the festival.
- Organize an event (bake sale, raffle, dinner, etc.) to raise
money.
- Donations can be: money, materials and supplies, labor, etc.
Artwork and Design
- Design an attractive events page on myspace.
- Design graphics, color schemes, etc. for our website.
- Search for free clip art, graphics, etc. that would be effective on our
website.
Consulting
